North Broward Hospital District Choose Mitretek System’s RASMAS to Automate Recall Process and Improve Patient Safety

FALLS CHURCH, VA (PRWEB) June 29, 2006 —-

Mitretek Systems announced today that North Broward Hospital District has signed a three-year contract to use the Risk And Safety Management Alert System (RASMAS) to receive, track, manage, and respond to medical product alerts and recalls in its member hospitals. North Broward Hospital District joins a growing list of U.S. and Canadian hospitals using the RASMAS to reduce recall processing costs and improve patient safety.

RASMAS is a web-based product recall management service that automates the distribution, receipt, and tracking of product alerts and recalls. By providing centralized recall oversight on an enterprise-wide basis, RASMAS reduces labor requirements for managing recalls and decreases the time it takes to close out a recall for defective products. Subscribers report that using RASMAS has reduced their alert-processing time by 80 percent and has dramatically decreased the number of days it takes to remove potentially harmful products from use.

The implementation of RASMAS will support North Broward Hospital District’s stated mission to be the regional healthcare leader, providing an integrated system of health care services to the community. North Broward Hospital District is committed to using innovative organizational and technological partnerships to ensure the delivery of services in such a way that the community’s needs are met in the most efficient and effective manner possible.

“We are very pleased that North Broward Hospital District has chosen RASMAS to manage its recall process,” said Lydia Thomas, president and chief executive officer of Mitretek Systems. “We believe that RASMAS’ ability to providing centralized oversight and integrated recall management, will help North Broward Hospital District see a measurable reduction in the amount of time it takes to manage recalls.”

The transition to RASMAS from manual alert management is in progress in North Broward Hospital District’s four hospitals: North Broward Medical Center, Broward General Hospital, Imperial Point Medical Center, and Coral Springs Hospital.
